About Me

My photo
Howard
Manhattan, New York, United States
I am a native New Yorker. I had a career in the technology field where I was responsible for businesses across the United States and flew 120 plus flights a year. I flew first class and lived an absolutely incredible life. At 45 years old I received a bad lottery ticket in life and got sick. I was misdiagnosed as bipolar and kept in a medically induced fog for 6 years. I lost my job, money, family and the woman I loved. NY Cornell hospital admitted me for 6 weeks where they titrated me off the pharmaceutical cocktails. Pet scans and neuropsychological testing discovered a rare neurological disease. Frontotemporal dementia is commonly misdiagnosed as a mental illness. The last year has been spent learning how to live with dementia and toggle myself through support groups while getting the medical attention I need. I have an incredible amount of friends that I could not have emerged from this radical life change without. I am now 54 years old and am on full medicaid with $.63 a day in food stamps. A new life has been created with dementia. The purpose of this blog is to help people with FTD/dementia find the right resources to get there life back on track and be happy.
